They are God's people, why should they be accountable to anyone? Aren't they the sole heirs of the planet and anything on it? Daniel Meyar should be happy that he has been granted the temporary right to use a camera that rightfully belongs to Jehovah's people. -

Why do religious people make claims and then refuse to back them up?
by Viviane inseveral times over the past few months i have had conversations, both here and in real life, with religious people making all sorts of interesting and conflicting claims.
i like to know how things work, so generally i will ask questions to net out what i am being told and see if it can be explained and make sense.. for instance, if someone said 2+2=4 and i asked how, there are a variety of ways that could be shown to me, a number line, physical objects being put together, counting on fingers and toes, etc.
indeed, in my personal life, i often have to explain how certain technologies work, sometimes planned, sometimes off the cuff, from a variety of group sizes to a varying degree of technical expertise.

True story. Regarding defending the indefensible I have sent multiple e-mails to an educated, smart, born-in elder, in which I presented evidence (usually scans from WT magazines or books) demonstrating the Watchtower's deceptions, errors, questionable doctrines and outright ridiculous past beliefs and statements. His responses in so many words were:
"Dear non JW, your evidence is tainted" or "the organization is the truth, but you are not spiritual enough to understand it".
It all boils down to: rational arguments are not satisfactory and rational individuals are not spiritual and can't have access to God's mysterious ways.

Do JW Children Still Call Adults "Aunt" and "Uncle"?
by cofty inwhen i was young we were taught to refer to other adult jws as aunt or uncle.. was this also the case in other countries and does it still happen?.
was it just a custom or has the literature ever commented on it?.
thanks.

I am Mexican and it's not a JW or non-JW thing there. We call them aunts and uncles till they die or we die. It's not a hard and fast rule, but I thing is the more common thing to do. -

Why do people "come back"?
by kairos ini know of several examples of ones that "left the truth" for up to 20 years, only to suffer through the reinstatement process and feel like they are finally back on track.. how does this happen?.
i personally know of one example where a father of three, leaves jws, abandons wife and family, lives as a gay man then comes back 20 years later as a partaking member of the anointed..

You offered the answer. Partakes?... He is mentally unstable, the Watchtower would say, and I would echo that. -

With two questions, i recieved two lies from some cart witnesses.
by brandnew intoday i walked up to a group of cart witnesses and picked up a watchtower.
i opened the watchtower up to the first page , and asked one of the witnesses if he had read it.. lie # 1... he said he read it.. i ask my second question to a woman witness sitting next to him , who by the way was hard to tear away from her cell phone..... "whats this watchtower about?
, "........ lie # 2 ... she said she read it , but forgot "exactly" what the main points were about..

Brandnew,
I lean strongly towards believing that the two JW's had not read the whole magazines, at least with a strong interest, but I still believe you don't offer much in terms of proving your statements.
"... stumped?" ... Can you offer any details surrounding this assessment?
"forgot exactly?"... Not a bad answer. Even if someone reads something thoroughly and pays attention to detail, it's practically impossible to remember exactly. Did you pursue the issue any further, or you just judge others as the governing body does, with no solid basis and allowing preconceived ideas to bias your judgment. Calling someone a liar is a strong statement.

Nathan,
I can see you got a Ph.D. in Psychology. Well done! Quite likely you have served as a high ranking diplomat too.

How did you prove they were lying, especially #1? Do you have something better than "I say so". -

Welcome,
I am not a JW, but have lots of friends and family in (daughter and wife included). Ever since finding TTATT I feel like I am going crazy too, especially after seeing the state of denial of JW's when they are confronted with the idea of having been lied to by the WT. Anyways, I am a 50 y.o. male from Burbank CA. Send me a PM if you live near the area and want to meet a friend of the apostates.
